The new vid from The Blackout is filled with cameos from some of the UK rock scenes finest… see if you can spot members of We Are The Ocean and You Me At Six amongst others!
We at MRC love The Blackout, and are totally pumped about the recent announcement of the ‘Kerrang Relentless Energy Drink Tour 2010,’ which will see Sean Smith and co hit the road with All Time Low, My Passion, and Young Guns.
Wales’ finest, LOSTPROPHETS, have just released the video for the first single to be taken from their new album, ‘The Betrayed.’ The band have been locked up in a dark room for what seems like an eternity writing, recording, re-writing, then re-recording this album… as well having to find a new drummer!
Anyway, the wait is finally over… enjoy the vid for ‘It’s Not The End Of The World,’ out as a single on 12th October on Visible Noise, with the album to follow in January next year.
Well, a week has passed and we think we have just about recovered from the weeked that was the Reading Festival! Team Myrockcity.com spent most of the weekend hanging with our buddies on the Criminal Damage stall in the main arena, and boogying the nights away in the guest area – BUT we did get to see some bands, and they were all pretty awesome! Our highlights include…
* FAITH NO MORE headlining the NME/Radio 1 tent on Friday night (What do you mean you watched Kings Of Leon instead?? More fool you!)
* PRODIGY blowing minds on the main stage on Saturday evening
* MARIACHI EL BRONX soothing everyones Saturday morning hangovers
* THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM providing some of the best singalong moments of the entire weekend
* GALLOWS pulverising everybody as usual
* 3OH!3, THE QEMISTS, CRYSTAL METHOD, and LADY SOVEREIGN lifting the roof off the Dance Stage
* LOSTPROPHETS bringing the festival to a close in fine style, despite missing a member…
…and that’s just what we can remember off the top of our heads. All in all, 2009 was one of the best Reading Festivals for many a year.
Nope, this post is nothing to do with the 1980’s cowboy film with it’s awesome Bon Jovi soundtrack – nor it about the Wham! song of the same name – but about one of the hottest bands in the UK right now.
Young Guns are relative newcomers, but have achieved so much in 2009 that they must feel that they are seasoned veterans by now – this year alone has seen them grace the pages of Kerrang! Rock Sound, and Front magazines among others, the release of their debut EP ‘Mirrors,’ a relentless touring schedule with the likes of Lostprophets, Aiden, We Are The Ocean, and Escape The Fate, receive a nomination for ‘Best British Newcomer’ at the Kerrang! Awards, shoot two videos, and have a track remixed by Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins’ L’Amour La Morgue project. Not bad for bunch of lads from High Wycombe eh?
We at My Rock City love ‘em to bits and were chuffed to bits when vocalist Gus and bassist Simon agreed to come in to do a spot of modelling for us. You can see their pretty faces in the ‘As Rocked By – Young Guns‘ section of our site.
For those of you yet to feel the Young Guns buzz, check the video for their brilliant ‘The Weight Of The World’ single.
Now head over to their Myspace, find out when they’re playing near you, and GO SEE THEM LIVE!
St. Albans 4-piece Enter Shikari have just released their new album, ‘Common Dreads,’ and it’s racking up plays in the Myrockcity.com office. For those unfamiliar with the band, they take all the best elements of a 90’s rave and mix it with noughties UK rock… Sound confusing?
‘Common Dreads’ sees the band take their sound even further – the riffs are heavier, the vocals angrier, the choruses bigger, and on some tracks you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re listening to The Streets… take first single ‘Juggernauts’ for exaple…
Common Dreads is out now on Ambush Reality Records, and the band are touring the UK throughout October.
London’s finest, Criminal Damage, have been around for what seems forever – but as of recent have had somewhat of a re-launch, taking on a whole new mainstream and more mature approach to their designs. This has not gone unnoticed by numerous bands and artists, who now include Criminal Damage in their on-stage wardrobes – Gallows, Fightstar, You Me At Six, Enter Shikari, Failsafe, Attack! Attack!, We Are The Ocean, Hadouken!, Elliot Minor, and The Ghost Of A Thousand are just a few of the high profile acts spotted sporting Criminal Damage in the press and on-stage.
After a top weekend at Sonisphere Knebworth, team My Rock City hit the Kerrang! Awards last night in central London. We were sponsoring the prestigous ‘Best Album’ award, which (quite rightly) went to the mighty METALLICA for ‘Death Magnetic.’ Bassist Rob Trujillo was on hand to collect the award from hosts Scott Ian (Anthrax) and Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour.)
